Every time you call any mortgage company you will need to authenticate (prove you are who you say you are) by providing some information regarding the customer (or Your Company) that you are calling about. Information regarding Your Customer that you will definitely need to have ready is their loan number and/or tracking number, full names, full address, and phone number.
Information and documents regarding Your Company that you will need to have handy include your W-9, State License and/or Registration, Certificate of Insurance, Federal Tax ID or FEIN Number.
The documents and information you should have ready are:
Loan number or tracking number (tracking number is easier/better for most mortgage companies)
Your Customer’s full name
Your Customer’s full address
Your Customer’s phone number (for certain mortgage companies)
Your Company’s W-9
Your Company’s State License or Registration
Your Company’s Certificate of Insurance
Your Company’s Federal Tax ID number or EIN number
While the first four items on the list will simply be verbally authenticated, all of Your Company’s forms will need to be faxed during the endorsement process. That is why it is a good idea to have physical copies of them, PDF’s of them on your computer, or both.
By having Your Customer’s call in authentication information and Your Company’s documents ready, you will save time, lessen frustration, and speed up your check endorsements.
